Yamanaka Inoshi was born of Yamanaka Ryokan's second wife, and was his youngest child. He had one brother and one sister, whose mother had died four years previous to his birth. Yamanaka Ryokan remained married to his second wife. Both of Ryokan's sons persued the life of a shinobi at Konohagakure, though the older son, Munenori, died early and in unfortunate circumstances. Inoshi graduated as a genin at age 11, and was teamed with Nara Shikatou and Akimichi Choumaru. He became chuunin at 15, and mastered the Yamanaka calling card, Shinranshin no Jutsu, at 16.

Inoshi married Mutsu Nayoko when he was 19 and she 17, and Nayoko gave birth to their first and only child, Yamanaka Ino, that same year. Shortly afterwards, Inoshi persued the jounin title doggedly and attained it when he was 21. In the summer of his 21st year he killed approximately 37 ninja in the Rain Country in what he later claimed in court was a personal vendetta. The jury was unable to release a unified decision and ultimately the Hokage dismissed the case brought against Inoshi by the Rain Country. The case was not persued either by the government of the Rain country nor the families of the victims.

Currently, Yamanaka Inoshi lives with his family on the Western edge of Konoha, where he keeps the large gardens which produce many of the flowers sold in a mid-village flowershop he owns. He continues to serve the Fire Country as a jounin, has no other outstanding black marks on his record, and is in the process of balancing his double work life and his family. His father, Yamanaka Ryokan, died when Ino was four, and his sister, now Amaya Inoue, works as a records keeper for the Hokage and has two daughters of her own.


Personally, Inoshi remains largely distanced from his peers. He likes to boast that he has not an enemy in all the world, but also keeps most people, with the exception of his immediate family and old teammates, at arm's length. Simultainiously, he is extroverted, generally amiable, and well-known, mostly for his quick temper and even quicker tendency to exact revenge on anyone who breaks his self-contained set of Rules of Conduct. High on this list of things not to do is anything which could negatively affect or reflect upon his daughter, Ino. Inoshi is vain, collects art and antique swords, and likes to write poetry. He does not like the colour puse green, and only complains about injury if it's superficial. He's 32 years old, 6', weighs 178 lbs, and hates birds.
